A personal story about personal development – from chaos to grounding. Discover how therapy, nature and self‑insight can support your way back to calm.
Personal development can take many forms. For some, it begins with affirmations – positive statements in front of the mirror. Saying: You are strong. You are beautiful. You are lovable. For me, it has never felt natural. I’ve felt awkward, like an actor in the wrong role. Maybe I’m just impatient – maybe I should keep going until it feels real. Or maybe something else works better for me.
New Year slogans and passwords
For the past few years, I’ve chosen a slogan for the coming year. It becomes my computer password – the sentence I repeat to myself while walking the dog, driving the car, before falling asleep, and when I wake up (if I remember – I’m not exactly a morning person 😉).
This year’s slogan was: Transition 2026. And it turned out to be… powerful. The first four months of 2026 were life‑changing – personally and professionally. You can read the professional part in my post A Stormy Week. Personally, it felt like a tornado that threw me around, away from myself, and eventually left me completely flattened. I had lost connection to myself, beaten myself up over choices I had made, and been there for others to the point where I forgot myself. A classic survival mechanism – but a hard one to land from.
When the wind finally settled
In the middle of the collapse, I decided to send “Transition 2026” to a place where the sun never shines. I had received what I asked for – and now it was enough. No more Transition for me, thank you. I went to therapy. I practiced not performing, not producing. Just being. Listening to music. Meditating. I spent time in nature, with animals, with my hands in the soil. I rediscovered my old drawing and painting materials. I joined a nature retreat with yoga, shaking exercises, and breathwork. I cried loudly and quietly – and slowly found my way back to myself.
During one of the therapy session, I saw myself as a pancake. A large, flat pancake lying in the grass, with roots growing down into the earth. Simply being. A part of something bigger. It sounds strange – but it was deeply meaningful. The pancake became a symbol of letting go, finding calm, and belonging in nature, in something much larger than myself.
Personal development is exactly that – personal
For me, it was a tornado. For others, it may be small steps, quiet insights, or a slowly growing need for new paths and change. No matter the pace or the reason, therapy can be the safe place where you find your own way. Sometimes all it takes to begin is a new password 😉 Other times, it takes a bit more.
I’m ready to be your anchor and your safe guide through your personal development – at your pace.
